DAHS (DeForest Area High School) has officially started their production for this year’s spring play, and the play was announced as ‘Little Women’, the story based on the 1868 novel written by Louisa May Alcott, which was based on true events. The cast list officially came out last month near the end of February, and all the actors now have their scripts and are going over lines.

While the production continues, one of the actors made some statements regarding the play. The actor interviewed in question wanted to remain anonymous so their name or part will not be mentioned unless part of a direct quotation.

John Doe, a prominent figure in DAHS Drama Club commented on what they thought of the story they were going to be acting out, saying, “I really love the story, I think it was important for its time, it deals with emotional topics while still being a treat to watch, I think it was a good choice for the drama department to take on.”

‘Little Women’ is about four young women, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy March, who grow up in a house with their mother while their father is fighting in the American Civil War. Over time these four young women go on to find love and a place in the world where they fit just right, while still keeping their familial ties.

Doe also answered the question of what they weren’t excited for in the coming months, saying:“I’m not excited for memorizing lines, love the part I got, to death, but sometimes balancing school and a production is rough; memorization isn’t always a straight path, and not a lot of people realize that.”

Overall, Doe sounds very excited for being in this year’s spring play even if sometimes it can be a little stressful with classes and rehearsals. Doe hopes this production will come to life on stage for them and for the people watching.

Doe finished the interview by stating,“It feels really good to be a part of this production, sure I have some anxieties, but I’m really glad to be working alongside such amazing actors.”
